Blanco's No-Hitter Comes Just Hours After Welcoming Baby Girl

HOUSTON – Ronel Blanco had quite a day on Tuesday. He spent the first half of the day celebrating the birth of his daughter, and the second half throwing a no-hitter against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Blanco's Mother Remembers the Family's Sacrifices

After celebrating his no-hitter, Blanco's mother spoke about the sacrifices the family had made to get to this point.

"We always believed in him," she said. "But there were times when it was tough. We had to make a lot of sacrifices, but it was all worth it in the end."

Blanco's Strong Will

Blanco is a strong man. A man strong enough to throw a no-hitter. He did not officially claim a rotation spot until his final exhibition start of the spring, the same day he and his wife welcomed their daughter into the world.

But Blanco did not let the long day or the lack of sleep affect him. He took the mound and threw a no-hitter, striking out 10 batters.
